The English are so nice

I love this poem by D.H Lawrence because of the message it brings. This five stanza relays the message that the other countries try to let others know in a nice way of something that is not so nice. Every time I read this poem it makes me laugh because of the first two line of the poem "The English are so nice so awfully nice." This shows the oxymoron by having it say that they are nice but behind everything they really are not. Also, he says that if your not nice they will let you now that your not being nice, this goes to show that they don't have to be nice but they are mean to you to make sure that your nice. This part of the poem reminds me of people who are like hey get back to work and they are the ones not working!!! Gosh that makes me mad and this is what reminds me of this. The last two stanzas of this poem sums up the whole poem because it says that you really dont have to be nice back because they really dont know what nice is because they are never nice in the first place.

America

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE
TO THE FLAG

OF THE UNITED STATES

OF AMERICA.

AND TO THE REPUBLIC

FOR WHICH IT STANDS.

ONE NATION,

UNDER GOD,

INDIVISIBLE

WITH LIBERTY

AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

Today I chose to blog about the Pledge OF ALLEGIANCE!!!! Today president Obama came to the people of America and told us that after 9 years 7 months and 22 days Bin Laden is killed after he went though with the attacks of 9/11. After hearing this we are all so very happy justice has been done and I want to tie it back to the pledge of allegiance. I cant just pick out one line of the pledge to talk about because it all sums up what America has gone through and accomplished up to date. Over the past couple of years we have all had to come together no matter the race or religion and be there of each other. We came as one nation and conquered a very important goal. We all came together and showed that we will never back down and we will always in the end come out on top. As of right now I cannot even put in words of how I feel because of the actions the united states has made and I'm very thankful to be an American and I also just want to say a quick thanks to all who have ever served in the country, your work is highly appreciated!

Many red devils

Many red devils ran from my heart
And out upon the page.
They were so tiny
The pen could mash them.
And many struggled in the ink.
It was strange
To write in this red muck
Of things from my heart.

This poem in many ways seems pretty dark but at the same time I really liked it and understood what she was meaning when she was writing this poem. This poem is just one simple stanza and has 8 lines in it. This poem is talking about how this poet,
Stephen Crane feels at this time in her life. When I read it it makes me feel that she is very upset at one person because of all the bad things that he or she has done to her in her life. I like how she described the devils as tiny because it makes me think that it was not just one thing that this person did but it was a lot of tiny different things and it finally sent her over the edge. Another piece I liked was how when we think of the devil we see him as red and she was writing in a red pin so i just adds to the events that led her to this poem. When she said it was strange in the 6th line I started to wonder that maybe she is not a cold hearted person and that is why it is strange coming from her heart, but she well nows it this it is time to let it out. In review i loved this poem because I felt that it had a lot of deep meaning

this is just to say

this is just to say
William Carlos Williams

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

I enjoy this poem every time that I read it because it makes me laugh every time that I read it do to the sarcasm. This poem is constructed of three stanzas each containing 4 lines with a total of 12 lines. This poem really paints a great picture in my head when I'm reading this, all I see is a person who is eating these plums who were for someone else and as they are finishing them they are writing this note and leaving it by the empty box of plums for the other person to see. From the poem I got that there is some kind of loving relationship between the person who wrote the note and the person who the plums were for. We can note from the description of the plums that the one who ate the plums were not for him/her but s/he know that they would not care to much. In a way the note almost seems like the person who at the plums is getting back at the other person because of how sarcastic they wrote the note! There really is no correct answer but I just like the idea of this poem because it pulls out my since of humor in a way because I see myself doing that.

you fit into me

you fit into me
Margaret Atwood

you fit into me
like a hook into an eye

a fish hook
an open eye

I read this poem a couple of times and I came to find that this poem is really not talking about how to people are meant for each other but how they are not. As we talked in class we know that there is a clip or button on mostly womens clothing and it is known as a hook in an eye. Something ironic in this poem is that it is saying that you fit with me well but also like a fish hook in an open eye and we all know that that is not comfortable. So maybe this is trying to say that the couple may look like they are right for each other but in the long run they really were not made out for each other. This poem by Margaret Atwood is very simple poem constructed of two stanzas and four line with no punctuation, with each stanza meaning something different. This poem may not have a lot of words but it does have a very deep meaning because I do believe that a lot of people think that they have found there partner but to only find out that it was like a hook in an eye.

note passed to superman

After reading this poem i believe that i have found a lot with in the poem but i do not know if I'm over thinking it. This poem is just one simple stanza and consists of 18 lines. It seems to me that this poem is talking about another person who she views as the super hero superman. The poet describes that the only way clifton would recognize is if he was dressed in his blue suit, and even though others may want to listen to the stories this super man figure will not. I like the reference to the kryptonite because that was super mans weakness and it shows he has over come it in this big city. At the end she is just saying that the super hero does not have to worry about her even though the planet she is living in is strang, so maybe she is trying to say it is not the people that are making the planet a bad place maybe it is the planet that is making the people bad. I also noticed that there is a few biblical references and it made me think maybe this super hero is God and the kryptonite is the sins we are committing but it is the influences that make us bad but he over comes it and forgives us!

the lesson of the falling leaves

This poem is only one stanza and is not a complete sentence or correct punctuation because there is no punctuation mark or capital letters what so ever. This poem contains six lines and as I was reading the poem something significant. The first and last lines are the only lines that do not start with "such". I also noticed that the lines in between lines 1 and 6 play off each other and make it meaningful. There is something that i caught in the poem that i did not understand because the word God should always be capitalized and I dont understand why its not. Maybe it is because the poem does not use any punctuation at all or maybe the poet just didnt feel it was needed??? I really enjoyed this poem and the message that it sent in saying that all you have to do is believe and trust yourself that you can over come an obstacle!!! This was a great, short, and loving poem and im glad i chose it
